Ayurvedic wisdom for Reducing inflammation through the gut

Systemic inflammation is a common side effect of the Standard American Diet, or SAD. The excess processed foods, the artificial tastes, and of course the super-sized portions, all have a huge impact on our gut health. According to Ayurveda, the health of the gut is as good as the health of the body. Nothing sustains our long-term resiliency to dis-ease like our digestive fire, or Āgni.
Inflammation starts in the gut; the discomforts you feel after eating, such as bloating, gas, or maybe even pain, all are the precursors contributing to the improper processing of your food. The root cause lies not just in WHAT you eat, but HOW, WHEN, and even the WHY you eat. In the long run, what start out as small “symptoms” actually turn into major digestive disorders like leaky gut, IBS/IBD, and Celiac disease. The greatest wisdom of Ayurveda lies in how regulating the digestion, releasing toxic waste, and focusing on the proper lifestyle can heal the gut, prevent inflammation, and mitigate the long-term effects of the SAD.

This is part 3 of a series of talks (available on FB and YouTube) offered by Ileana Gonzalez of Apurva Ayurveda and Yoga.
